Autumn in the East Neuk is a season made for slowing down. The gardens turn golden, the air feels crisp, and the cottages and treehouses at Madeira are at their cosiest. It’s the perfect backdrop for words to take shape.
This year Acorn Writing Retreats are hosting a series of immersive writing weekends here at Madeira.

What to Expect
Each retreat blends structured workshops with time to write at your own pace. There’s space to share your work if you’d like, plus plenty of quiet corners if you’d rather keep it to yourself. Afternoons often spill into walks, market visits, or time by the fire. Evenings are for good food, conversation, and – of course – more writing if the words keep coming.
