We fell for Madeira on our first visit here…
It’s now our 8th year here at Madeira and time has flown by. We renovated and upgraded all the cottages early in 2013 and we have really enjoyed welcoming our guests, new and returning.
The focus over the last 12 months has been the gardens and a lot has been achieved. We have also created space for groups of people to enjoy being together including extending The Bothy, creating The Dell and improving the games room. The Bothy extension is our covered terraced area with pizza ovens where guests can make dinner or have a small party. The Dell is a special place by the stream where you can cook over an open fire and relax with friends and family. And the games room can be booked in advance for groups who rent Madeira exclusively.
The gardens have new paths so you can explore the woods, find many spots to sit and contemplate life, read or have a picnic with your kids. Rope swings, dens, the ‘fairy tree’, the ‘dragons nest’ make Madeira a magical place for kids to play.
We live on site so can give you any help you may need during your stay. However, we understand many people just want a peaceful holiday, a relaxing change of pace and we provide that at Madeira. We employ 2 great members of staff, Denise and Tash, who help us with the cottages and Kate and Chris who help in the garden amongst other things. Keeping the cottages and gardens maintained to a very high standard is vital so everyone can enjoy Madeira to its fullest.
We hope to see you here soon.
As soon as we drove up the drive the first time we had a feeling that Madeira was a special place. This feeling has not left us and you will feel it too. The ancient tress, Victorian wall, and the south facing aspect mean you are sheltered and its definitely warmer in the garden than on the road or fields.
Guests come here for peace and quiet, often to write or paint, bird watch or to use the holiday cottage as a relaxing home from home, a base to come back to after a day exploring the East Neuk and Fife.
Equally if you are looking for a chilled place to spend time with friends you will find Madeira offers you everything you need.
The Gardeners Cottage is perfect for families who need a base where parents can relax and children can play. Children will love the dens, tree swings, secret paths created just for them and the freedom they will experience in the garden. Parents can be confident its safe to let their children wander through the gardens exploring, playing and using their imaginations to have fun.
If you have extended family why not book a couple of cottages so you are able to get the best of both worlds – being together and individual space when it matters.
