Activities For Groups Renting Cottages

June 20, 2020

Apart from the things you can do on site at Madeira In Fife there are many more things to do around and about when staying in the cottages.

Golf is an obvious choice and we have so many courses to choose from you’ll want to come back again to play them all. The cottages are only 9 miles from St Andrews, the home of golf and with 7 miles of Madeira we have another 6 courses. We have information on all the clubs so please let us know if you want us to help book them or give you information.

In Elie you’ll find lots of outdoor activities like water sports, golf, tennis and The Chain Walk along the cliffs at Shell Bay. Elie is only 5 miles from the Madeira Cottages and there is a bus from the village. Angus Meldrum who owns the Elie Water Sports provides all the kit and you can sail, paddle board, water ski, windsurf, and get towed behind the boat on all sorts of things. He gives us a special price so please do ask us to book.

There are many visitor attractions in St Andrews, but we also have The Secret Bunker just 5 miles from Madeira which is definitely worth a visit.

Another great activity to do in groups is coastal foraging. You can arrange to have a guide take you along the coast and depending on the time of year find lots to eat. We forage in our woods and its amazing what you find. Puff Ball mushrooms are one of our favourites as of course is wild garlic, berries, and wild herbs. And while we are talking about coastal walking the coast between Pittenweem and St Monan’s is really good for fossil hunting.

The Fife Coastal Path is also a fun thing to either walk or bike. It’s very beautiful and each of the villages between Elie and Kings Barnes are very easy to get to in a day. You can do all the villages and get a bus back if you don’t want to shorten your walk. There are many lovely pubs, cafes and restaurants where you can stop and sample the delights of The East Neuk.

The Kings Barnes Distillery, which is only 7 miles from the holiday cottages is also a great place for a group to spend some time either sampling whisky or gin. The tour guys are excellent, and the distillery and café are really nicely done. Again, they cater for groups and you can book your tour and spend time in the sample room before having something in the café.

There are many lovely things to do, this is just a sample, but if you are interested in clay pigeon shooting, go carting, Escape Rooms and much more do give us a call and we can guide you in the right direction.
