Winter Escapes at Madeira in Fife + Our New Studio Cottage
October 12, 2025
There’s something about this time of year at Madeira that we really

love. The air turns crisp, the light softens, and the countryside slows down in the best way. Walks get longer, nights get cosier, and the sea feels wild and close. It’s the perfect time to escape the city for a few days and just breathe.
This year, we’re especially excited to share The Studio Cottage, our
newly refurbished little hideaway on the estate. It’s a one-bedroom, detached cottage with a king-size bed, south-facing terrace, and its own hot tub for cold, starry nights. Inside, it’s light and calm, with clean lines and warm touches that make it easy to settle in straight away. It sleeps up to four, so whether it’s a weekend for two or a quiet trip with friends, it’s a lovely base for a winter stay.
Why Winter Here Feels Special
Madeira in Fife has its own rhythm in winter. The woods are still, the
walled garden feels tucked away, and the coastal paths nearby are perfect for long, bracing walks. Evenings tend to revolve around food, fires, hot tubs, and slow conversations, or just complete quiet if that’s what you need.
The cottages and treehouses are all warm and inviting, whether you’re after a romantic weekend, a family gathering, or a bit of solo time away from everything.
What’s On This Season
There’s plenty happening around here too. In October, we’re hosting

a Seafood Boil in The Bothy (11 Oct). There’s also Bowhouse Market (11–12 Oct), just down the road, full of brilliant local producers, street food, music, and crafts.
As the season goes on, the East Neuk has a lovely, low-key calendar: winter markets, quiet gatherings, and plenty of reasons to get outside before coming back to something warm.

An Easy Escape
We’re tucked away in the Fife countryside, just an hour from Edinburgh and 17 minutes from St Andrews. It’s close enough for a quick trip, but far enough that it feels like a proper break.
Whether you come for a weekend in The Studio, a stay in the treehouses, or a cosy few days in one of the cottages, winter here is all about slowing down and letting the world quieten a bit.
